I cannot believe how well and strong I feel. I was diagnosed with the severe stages of Osteoporosis in 2014 caused by hyperparathyroidism, my bones were filled with holes and I was at a very high risk of fracture. Of course, I am very clumsy so I was fearful of breaking my hip or spine. I just had my bone density and I am now healing.. Working in the Small Group training has been instrumental in my success. Thanks to all the staff at BostonNorthFitnessCenter, I am feeling stronger and looking better than I have for a long time.
I knew that I was out of shape. My doctor had been telling me for years to lose weight and eat better. I think it all came to a head for me in May of last year (2015). I am really amazed by the results I have seen, I had honestly resigned myself to the fact that I would be overweight for the rest of my life. Not so anymore. Since I met with Hayley in June, I have lost over 50 lbs and 8% body fat. She and her staff have made going to the gym fun again, and I can’t wait for my weekly sessions. That man in the mirror, I don’t mind him so much anymore. He keeps getting better.
Just a couple of the many ways that the trainers at Boston North show clients how much they care. As a woman who has done it all in the world of fitness…running, spinning, step, pilates, TRX, boxing, body pump, even zumba … it’s now hard to admit that sometimes this 61 year old body can’t do what it used to. That’s where the trainers at Boston North come in. For everything my knees, shoulders, neck, psyche says I can’t do … there’s ten things the trainers come up with that I can. And it’s every bit as hard and challenging as the exercise they modified. Anyone who is a fitness buff knows it’s frustrating when your mind wants to do something and the body says “not so fast”. However, I’ve never walked out of my sessions at Boston North thinking I didn’t give it my all or thinking the workout was lame because I had to do some other exercise than the one in the original set. Hayley, Allison, Nicole and Brianna never fail to come up with something to challenge me, all the while keeping me in proper form and safe from injury.
So whether you’re in the best shape of your life, just starting out, or working around injuries and limitations, you’re in the hands of some of the most knowledgeable, caring, dedicated trainers around. I love the three hours a week I spend in the Training Center. The camaraderie with the other clients and with the trainers is awesome. Small Group combines a bit of competition and social interaction with the one-on-one attention of personal training. Perfect combination for keeping healthy, happy and strong!
A year ago I was using a walker and then a cane, to get around after knee replacement surgery. Although I recovered fairly well after physical therapy, my return to a normal routine of walking and line dancing seemed a long way off. Then a friend suggested Boston North Fitness to me. Beginning with my 1stmeeting with Hayley, I could envision doing the activities I love again. Hayley assigned Nicole Ogin as my personal trainer, thinking we’d work well together.
Seven and half months later, Nicole has become an integral part of my plan to be a healthy, active “senior”. Nicole’s motivation and enthusiasm has encouraged me to push myself beyond what I thought I could do. In June I completed the 6.2 mile Cancer Walk in Salem with minimum difficulty. I’ve also returned to line dancing on a weekly basis, as well as attend a couple of line dance weekends, dancing 5-6 hours each day. None of this would have been possible without Nicole’s guidance and encouragement. Now I track what I’m eating, changed some of my eating habits, and have lost 15 lbs so far.
Due to some physical limitations, Nicole has adjusted my workouts accordingly. But with Nicole’s help, I believe I will overcome those limitations as I set my health and fitness goals for 2017. Thank you, Nicole and Boston North Fitness Center and Training Center!
